President Report

  • Spring Carnival- I have received a lot of positive feedback on how well run and organized the carnival was this year. It was a lot of fun for our Field families. The new lay out of using the 2 gyms worked better than using all the classrooms. Thank you to everyone who helped make this such an enjoyable event.

  • This Friday is the Glamour Gala Event (formerly daddy/daughter dance) at 6:30 in the North gym. Registration was extended to this past Friday April 11th, but is now closed because we reached capacity.

  • Superheroes night out is being planned. It is scheduled for Friday, May 4th at 6:30 and will be held at Kiddie Kingdom in Niles. Registration is now open on Revtrack and the price is $30.00

  • A few weeks ago an email went out about an audit committee. I got several people willing to volunteer. Paul and I will be meeting with them soon. We will be going over our financial records from August to March 31st.

  • Walk-a-thon donations are now being accepted. Please see the PTO website for additional information regarding goals and awards. There is also an electronic link that can be shared for online payments.

Treasurer Report:

  • I paid the state fine of $215, and have appealed the IRS fine of just under $5,000. Hoping for positive outcome with the appeal and overall we are doing good financially.

  • I looked back over the last 3 Vshow and even though expenses are running high, when you compare the last 3 years we are in line. Looks like we might make $25,000.

  • We hope to order library furniture in April. The last price the vendors gave was $42,000. We should know by the end of April if we will have the funds available to pay for the entire project. We would like to do it in one phase.

  • Walk a thon- Last year in first week we had $8,000, this year our first week raised $5,000. We only have 3 weeks this year. We did get a $4,000 donation from a family. John Moran is donating glasses for everyone. We have a $50 dollar challenge this year and hope that every child can raise $50.00 We are considering giving a bookmark to everyone who makes the $50 mark.

  • We would like to ask the room parents to send an email that reaches all the parents.

This test is an internal benchmark to show growth of kids. Please make sure your children are here that week. Testing will take place Mon, Tues, and Wed. that week with make -ups Thurs. and Fri. Committee Reports

  • Spirit Wear- Brandy Oomen- We are going to roll everything out on Revtrak. And hope to get an order done by the end of school so we can deliver. Summit in Uptown is doing the new clothing. $5.00 per item will come back to PTO. Possibly teachers can distribute if they are bundled and labeled.

  • Discovery Day May 29th. Keep sending Ideas and let Carol know if you would like to volunteer.

New Business

  • 4th grade teachers are here to present a program . Mrs. Schaab and Mrs. Herguth feel there has been an increase in mean behavior in the 4th grade. The District has implemented social emotional learning and they have had a week long bullying curriculum, but they are still having problems. They are proposing having Dr. Marcia McEvoy come for special training for the 4th graders. Her background is in children relationships, reducing mean behavior, increasing compassion.
