Principals Report

School board made decision on the secure vestibule. If you post on Facebook please let Dr. Bednar know.

  • Options offered, the least expensive option did not offer additional instructional space.

  • 2nd option would put office, etc. Where reading garden is now. As far from all the classrooms and very disconnected from rest of building.

  • 3rd option gives us additional space, 1 full size class and 2 smaller.

Office in same corner of the building and we gain a multi-purpose room which is bigger than what we have now. There will be a lift for wheelchairs. More possible seating than in the existing auditorium. Will be able to stage Follies, VShow and Talent Show. This option gives us most options and flexibility with this space. It is expensive, but board did choose this option.

  • This should cost no more then 2.5 million. Vestibule ready in 2019, for start of school but multipurpose room may or may not be ready.

  • We will move the reading garden.

  • First step will be removing carpet and tile during spring break so we will have concrete floors until end of school.

  • Stage will have a back stage area and a curtain. Planning $75,000 for stage lights. Will use what we can for current auditorium.

  • Another benefit of the multi-purpose room is a flat floor.

  • There is a lot for Dr. Bednar to deal with (buses etc.)

Committee Reports

Mrs. Schaab

  • We love the furniture with new flexible learning space. Most kids are in the room twice a week. Mrs. Schaab would like to bring a book fair back to field School and has scheduled one the week of screen free week. Hopes to keep book fair open during the evening.

  • Family reading night this Thursday. Take pictures and share with school. Pictures will be posted on the bulletin board also.

  • Jan. 17th is field school spelling bee and spelling list comes out soon.

Trunk or Treat

Rebecca- 28 cars, around 200 people.

  • For next year- no fire truck and we will have to figure out where to do it with the construction changes. Some cars had games in their car. Kids really loved it! Punch card was a great thing to do.

Barnes and Noble Book Fair

  • Helen Pasley- Trying to decide if we should have the fair. Barnes and Noble has changed their pay structure. Still TBD

New Business

  • Nov. 28th at Roosevelt. SPED group meeting. The goal is to create a Special Needs PTA with liaison to each PTO. Carol will keep us updated.

  • Can we do Bricks for Kids? Hire them to do the Lego club? That is a possibility and Jen will research and get back to us in Jan.

Dr. Bednar would like to explore how to reach out to more parents!

Meeting adjourned- 8:30
